So the thing with blockers is they block your behavior, but you don’t learn anything from them.
You don’t learn the skill of quitting porn.
You don’t see why you’re using it and you don’t learn how to face those uncomfortable emotions.
It’s important to see that you’re using porn when you’re bored, you’re anxious, lonely or ashamed etc.
It’s one thing to read about it, but it’s another thing to actually see and feel it while it’s happening.
When you make that mental connection, you understand it and yourself better.
And then leaning into those uncomfortable feelings is where you learn how to quit porn.
When you use blockers, you’ll either spend time trying to defeat the blocker or break through the blocker. Or you’ll turn to something else.
You might drink more, you might smoke more. You might scroll more but somehow someway you’ll find a way to escape those negative emotions.
And that’s because you don’t know how to face (feel) them.
Learning how to face negative emotions is a skill just like any other skill.
You first learn how to do it and then you keep practicing it until you master it.
At that point you’ll do that instead of watching porn.
And your life will change forever because you won’t be running from negative emotions.
You’ll have the skill to face them, and this will affect your entire life.
You’ll get better at everything that you currently find difficult.
