Imagine you’re holding this grenade. Written on the pin is:
- I wonder if my favorite star has a new video out?
- I wonder if I can find that one video I remember?
- I just want to check if that site still exists?
- What are the top videos right now, just out of curiosity?
You have an overwhelming desire to pull the pin and find the answers you’re searching for.
Here’s the question: What happens when that grenade goes off?
You don’t just “check and leave.” You never do.
You know exactly where this leads, a relapse, broken promises to your wife, more shame, more distance in your marriage.
Do you want to destroy your life like that?
That burning desire to find out IS a feeling. It’s an emotion. And just like most other emotions, it wants you to do something.
An urge for porn is an emotion, and it wants you to feel desire so that you go look at porn.
Guilt is an emotion, and it wants you to feel so terrible that you return to porn for comfort.
Stress is an emotion, and it wants you to escape into porn instead of dealing with what’s actually bothering you.
Quitting porn isn’t about having superhuman willpower. It’s about learning to live with difficult emotions. Uncomfortable emotions. Learning to live with stress so you don’t turn to porn. Learning to live with urges so you don’t turn to porn. Learning to live with guilt so you don’t return to porn.
And curiosity is just another emotion to learn to live with. Another feeling to figure out how to face.
The grenade only goes off if you pull the pin.
You’ve been trying willpower. It hasn’t worked.
What if I showed you how to actually sit with curiosity, urges, and guilt without acting on them?
