If you want to stop sexualizing women, here’s what you need to do

First, when you notice yourself doing this, close your eyes and take a slow deep breath in through your nose and hold it.

Hold it for as long as it’s comfortable but not to the point where it’s uncomfortable.

Then breathe out through your mouth slowly until all the air has been pushed out and hold that until it just starts to get uncomfortable.

Then breathe in through your nose and repeat that pattern for a few minutes.

5 minutes is ideal but don’t get caught up in the details.

Just do it until you’ve calmed your body down.

When you calm your body, your mind will follow.

Now the goal is focusing your attention on your body.

Focus on the air coming in and going out.

Focus on your lungs rising and falling.

Focus on your body from the neck down.

I like to do a full body scan paying attention to each body part to see how it feels.

You might feel nothing but you still want to check in.

What you are doing is bringing your attention back to the present moment, specifically to your body.

This is called grounding and its purpose is to bring your attention back from what is distracting you to the present moment.

The key to this is to stay out of your head.

If you stay in your head, you are dead because that is where your brain will hook you.

That is where your brain WANTS to fight you because that’s willpower and you’ll always lose when you use willpower.

Your brain will ALWAYS win.

When you do this, you’re re-wiring your brain to interrupt the pattern and show it something new.

Because if you stay in the sexual fantasy you’re wiring your brain to do this more.

You’re saying, I like this, I want to do this and because it feels good, your brain will do more of it.

Your brain will notice every woman you see and automatically start sexualizing her.

So you want to break the pattern and re-wire yourself .

If you happen to be talking to someone while this is happening, breathe and focus on what she is saying. The words she is speaking, the story she’s telling or information she’s sharing.

Bring your attention back to the present moment.

When you do this enough times, your brain will get the message and it’ll stop distracting you.
