Let’s talk about lying to your partner about porn.
I wanted to say, we’ve all done it, but that’s too black and white.
and we know how much we love black-and-white thinking.
But most guys in a relationship and fighting porn have lied about it.
Most of the time, it starts with those little white lies.
Which are really lies to ourselves.
We say, it’s better off if they don’t know.
And that’s how it starts.
Here’s the truth about lying. You’re lying to protect yourself. You’re lying because you don’t want to face the pain.
In the same way you use porn to not feel bored, stressed, etc.,
you’re lying so that you don’t have to feel the pain of what telling the truth means to you.
In both cases, you’re choosing pleasure over pain.
But the pleasure is temporary.
The lies get bigger.
The shame gets heavier.
The fear of being caught grows stronger.
And you’re trapped in another cycle.
More porn.
More lies.
More shame.
More porn.
More lies.
It never ends.
But what if pain isn’t your enemy?
What if facing that pain is exactly what sets you free?
What if telling the truth isn’t about punishment?
Yes, the truth is going to hurt.
It’s going to suck.
But it can’t suck worse than living in fear.
Can’t suck worse than hating yourself every time you lie.
Can’t suck worse than waiting to get caught.
This is the life of a porn addict in a relationship, and it sucks!
