You and your anxiety are not the reason your partner is using porn.
Nothing you do causes your partner to go watch porn.
You and your emotions are not the reason he is using porn, even if he says they are.
He might say, “You’re stressing me out and I have to go watch porn.” But that’s not what’s actually happening.
Porn Isn’t Caused by You
He is using porn because he is overwhelmed with negative emotions.
Those emotions trigger his desire to seek relief.
You and your anxiety are simply circumstances in his life.
Just like any other circumstance, they do not force him to watch porn.
Watching Porn Is Still a Choice
Watching porn is a decision.
But all too often, guys believe it’s because of this person, that situation, or something outside of themselves.
They believe they’re powerless when they are not.
It’s easier to believe that than it is to take responsibility and own the behavior.
Responsibility Creates Freedom
Taking responsibility is the first step toward getting free of porn.
The moment he accepts responsibility is the moment he begins changing his life.
He’s saying:
“Yes, I do this, but I’m going to change it, starting right now.”
That’s where lasting change begins.
