Why Normalizing Porn Might Be Your Path to Freedom
I recently saw someone yelling at the top of their lungs, “Stop normalizing porn!” and then blaming society for it.
Actually, you do want it to normalize porn, you want it to become normal. Normal in the sense that this is something I do “some” times. I’m working on learning how not to do that, but until I get there, “some” times I fall back to old habits.
I don’t know why everyone with multi-year porn habits thinks they can just decide to stop on a Tuesday and be perfect from here on out.
I’m not saying this to discourage you or anyone else because believing that you can is EXACTLY how you get free of it.
BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT
You have to ask yourself……
Every X days I fall off the wagon.
Every X days I get on that bull and I get bucked the @#$@ off.
I get my @#$@ KICKED!!
And then I want to set the earth on fire because I’m so @#$@ ASHAMED of myself.
I hate myself, I hate porn, I hate everything; I want it all to end.
So the question I have to ask myself is:
Is it worth it to ride the bull, fight it, get kicked off, get my @#$@ kicked, feel like @#$@ for days, relapse over and over, and eventually get back on track?
Am I doing all this just because I’m trying to quit my multi-year porn addiction cold turkey on Tuesday because I think I can?
Is riding the emotional roller coaster better for me, or is making things intolerable for me?
Because if it is @#$@, I want to ease up and learn to let this go in a better way.
I want to forgive myself for all my past “mistakes.”
I want to go easy on myself because I know that if I do, it’s easier all over and I’m less likely to return to porn.
If I can normalize what I do to the extent that I’m not over-normalizing it where I watch it whenever.
But if it’s normalized enough that I don’t need to ride the bull, I don’t have to beat myself up, I don’t have to hate myself or the world.
I can just say I’m working on myself; I’m learning new habits and letting go of old habits, and “some” times I fall back to them.
I want to use them to learn so that I don’t repeat them.
I don’t want to use them to beat the @#$@ out of myself, so I just return to porn faster.
It’s all about how you look at things my friend!
